1. A Brief Introduction to Wuzhou University
With the approval of the Ministry of Education in Feb. 2006, the former Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch founded in 1985, was upgraded into a general comprehensive University, which is under the cooperative management of the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Municipal Government of Wuzhou City.
Wuzhou University was founded in the city of Wuzhou，which is located in the Southeast of Guangxi, and adjacent to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. There is a comprehensive transportation system containing railway, highway and air transport. Wuzhou City enjoys honorary titles of an Ancient City of More Than 2000 Years of History and a Trading Port of MoreThan 100 Years of History. The Si-En Buddhism Temple, the Dragon Mother’s Temple and the Arcades Construction with 100-year-history are known far and wide, where pilgrims and visitors come one after the other. Therefore, Wuzhou City enjoys the title of “China Excellent Tourism City ”.
Situated in the downtown of Wuzhou City, Wuzhou University with well-equipped facilities covers an area of about 600,000 square meters including 230,000 square meters for university buildings. Economics, Science of Administration, Science of Engineering, and Science of Arts are the main subjects, whereas Science of Law, Science and Education are the auxiliary ones. There are 12 departments including the Department of Economics, the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Electronics Information, the Department of Foreign Languages ect..
The enrollment of Wuzhou University covers 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities nationwide. Up to now, there are more than 15,000 students who study four-year programs or three-year programs in our university. Altogether, we have 1120 faculty members including more than 500 full-time teachers, among whom more than 100 are above senior professional title, more than 200 are above master degree.
Wuzhou University, taking advantage of its geographical location, started international cooperation and exchange in the year of 2004. The first group of foreign students had been enrolled to study in Wuzhou University in 2005. In the past six years, a total of 430 foreign students have been enrolled in Wuzhou University, more than 300 Chinese students had been sent to study abroad .
